Barbara Gonzales
Residing In: Salt Lake City, UT USA
Spouse/Partner: John
Occupation: Credit Manager 2020- Still with the same company and job. Anticipated retiring date is 12/31/2020. Well, here it is April, 2022 and I am still gainfully employed! I enjoy my job and figure 'll stay until I just don't care to anymore. Maybe June, 2023.
Children: Monique Aug. 1997. has lived with us since she was 6. She is our great niece. Monique is now married More…to Julio Rodriguez and has an adorable, fun, darling little girl, Aubrey, who is just the best ever!! She fills my heart with love I didn't even know was possible. On 2/15/2020 we found out we will be welcoming another granddaughter. My heart is so happy!! Annyeie was born in July, 2020, she's another source of unbelievable love and we love being grandparents. Our daughter Merci is not back home with us after years of
living in Nebraska. She is working on getting her life back on track and is my "keep me company kid" when John's job takes him out of town. Of course there is our little cute, but monster-like puppy Oreo, he's a terrier/Chihuahua mix and is my little buddy. We've had him since he was just a little bit about 6 weeks old.

I have three "daughters" two from a "practice" marriage, Rachael Ustorf and Niccole Amaral. They both live out of state, but are still a major part of my life. My step-daughter Merci is now living back in Utah and trying to get a life that had more ups and downs than 50 rollercoasters, back to a more stable ground.
Comments:

It seems strange to believe 50 years have past since high school graduation, but yet so much has happened in that time. I started working in November, 1969 at Blue Cross and Blue Shield and was there until 1983. I have worked in the construction industry since 1985, for general contractors and an engineering/construction company and have enjoyed learning that line of work. I've been a secretary, payroll administrator, HR, accounting and now I am currently the credit manager for Intermountain Concrete Specialties and have been here since Oct. 5, 2000. It's a great company and I really enjoy what I do. I belong to an association NACM, and have served on the board of directors for them. I also was selected in 2007 as the NACM/ROBERT HALF
student of the year. I guess going to school, working full time and raising an (at the time 9 year) earns rewards in more than one way. Anyway I was quite honored and have my plaque displayed in my office.
Life has been quite good to me, a few mishaps and unpleasantries, but for the most, I can't complain.

School Story:

I just remember the great school spirit, Gold Rush, and the friends that I made. I wasn't supposed to be attending South High, we lived two blocks away from East! But I was able to fanagle a transfer and and certainly grateful I did. I've kept in touch with a few of my friends through the years and grateful for that. Some of the ones I considered friends have passed away, the recent flyer stated Jerry Isham was the first in our class to pass away. I knew Jerry from attending the same church, so when he died in Nam, it hit hard. It seems strange to have people our age die, we're not that old! But because of South High, we have good memories. One thing that I always liked about South, was despite a few "cliques" for the most part, everyone was friendly and that helped.

It's been nearly a years since our 40th reunion. That was such a terrific get together. It was so great to see that many of our class has done well. There are some who haven't changed a lot and others have changed tremendously. I will always cherish my years at South and I know that my sentiments are shared by others.

Such great tributes to a good guy.  I knew Jerry from probably elementary school days. We attended the same Catholic church, along with Greg Allen and Larry Archuleta. . He was always a fun person in our religious classes and at times got the best of the priests!

Sad that his life was taken way too soon.

I knew Jerry from early on.  We attended the same church growing up.  I have fond memories of him and some of the other South High Cubs who went to our church as well, Gregory Allen, Larry Archuleta are just a few more.  I did not know Jerry had passed away until reading this here.

May God continue to bless his sould and may he forever rest in peace.

Thank you to those of you who shared this memory.
