Obituary published on Legacy.com by Larkin Mortuary - Salt Lake City on Sep. 26, 2023.
Paul Floyd Carlson, beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend returned to his heavenly home on September 21, 2023, of natural causes.
Paul was born on November 20, 1950, to Floyd Alma Carlson and Pauline Gardiner Carlson. He was the third of four children and lived his life in the Sugar House area. He graduated from South High School in 1969 and served in the Army from 1970 to 1972. He retired from Alliant Techsystems (ATK) after suffering a stroke in 2006. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loved the game of golf and missed playing it after his stroke. He liked watching sports and was an avid fan of the University of Utah's and Brigham Young University's football teams and the Utah Jazz. He had many friends that loved him and stayed close to him over the years. He had a particularly dear friend, Brandon Jukes, who was a great motivator in his life following his stroke. He received love and constant care from his sister, Carolyn, throughout the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Emma (Zachery) Carr and three grandchildren (Dillon, Kameron and Vada), his sisters Carolyn Carlson, Linda Hoefnagel and Ann (Roy) Myntti and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Pauline Carlson, and brother-in-law, Tony Hoefnagel.
A viewing will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT, followed by a graveside service at the Salt Lake City Cemetery at noon. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
