Vachell Dyrrel Julander “Shell”
Born on Sept 12, 1951 to Dyrrel Ray Julander & BerNeal Jensen in Tooele Utah. He graduated From South High School and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During the Vietnam War and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, where he served honorably.
When Shell left the service, he truly embraced being a hippy, sporting a natural afro hairstyle while he and his partner, Chastity Evans, and their dog Freak, hitchhiked across America working odd jobs along the way. They found their way back to Utah and remained here after having their son, Abraham. Shell later met & married Shiela Webb in 1981. They lived in Ogden and had 1 son, Aaron, and later divorced.
Shell worked for G&K services for 28 years where he won numerous awards, as well as salesman of the year 3 years in a row.
When Shell took on an interest, he put his whole heart and soul into it, such as earning a 4th degree black belt in Hap Kwon DO which took him 11 years to accomplish due to being 3 types of martial arts.
Shell was an avid fisherman and taught his boys to fish. He loved every fishing trip with his sons. After retirement, he took up pottery and became a master Potter, making hundreds of museum quality pieces. He also enjoyed gardening, gaming, golfing, and experimenting with new cooking recipes.
He religiously followed the Utah Jazz, attending as many games as possible and has a closet full of Jazz t-shirts and jerseys.
Shell loved his boys and grandchildren. He spent as much time as he could with all of them.
He's preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Alayna, stepbrother Rusty and stepbrother Ed.
Survived by sons: Abraham (Katherine) and Aaron (Julie).
Sisters: Rayona Butterfield (Willard),Melanie Ferrin,Wendy Ferrin (Richard),Tanya Julander and Debbie Norton.
Brothers: Kent Switzer and Kelly Julander
A viewing and services will be held on Thursday October 12, 2023 at Broomhead Funeral Home 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, Utah. A Viewing will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm with services immediately following.

Graveside services will be held Saturday October 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm, where Shell will be laid to rest next to his dad in the Geneva, ID cemetery.
