40 years! Very scary, except we are all there together!
I have been a musicians forever it would seem. In fact, that is the only job I have ever held (narrow world view). It has been a hoot to sit on stage with everyone from Ishtak Perlman (a personal hero), Pinkas Zukerman, Rudolf Serkin, Vladimir Horowitz, Bryn Terfel, Renee Fleming, etc. to Smokey Robinson, Quincy Jones, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Tony Randall (terrific singer), etc. The hottest job I have ever played is for the Transsiberian Orchestra Christmas show--with their pyrotech stage. The coldest was during the Olympics. Some of the jobs are really ho-hum, though a lot of the arrangements are marvelous for the background musicians to play (Rod Stewart, Il Divo, Johnny Mathis [really tough music],Barry Manilow, Natalie Cole, Terence Blanchard to name a few of the good ones) . Currently I record in studios up and down the Wasatch Front, I have been a faculty member of both the Y and Dixie State (each short lived--thankfully!), am a voting member of the Grammy Awards, and hire musicians for different composers and conductors and have played all 27 years of Kurt Bestor Christmases. Played with the Utah Symphony, but now perform with the Tabernacle Choir (Orchestra at Temple Square). If Hugh Jackman performs in SLC ever again--COME!! He is incredible!
None of my children are professional musicians (an oft asked ?) but all are terrific athletes---especially our daughters!
My husband and I have resided in Salt Lake City since returning from the East Coast in 1979.
